Day 2

Lunchtime concert Wells Cathedral School centred round Debussy's Ariettes OubliƩes. Fantastically florid flautism from Lisa and wonderfully heartfelt and moving words from her about her painful encounter with Alzheimers and from her student, Sophie, about the great work the Outreach programme does. Thank you so much both for sharing.

Off as swiftly as poss on the bikes to Churchill with unintended deviation and wobbly encounter with a tourist bus en route up Cheddar Gorge, feeling not quite right about our directionality, discovering need to come back down and go all the way up another one. Sweet!

But we made it with time for a little rehearsal before the evening concert at St John Baptist Church in Churchill. Hosted by the super star Jan Murray in her beautiful home and joined in concert by three gorgeous musicians - Mel Ragge (oboe), Alice Harper (soprano & Jan's daughter), Gordon Pullin (tenor). Thanks dudes for all that spicy variety and colour you added. The pennies are rolling in thanks to all of you. About £800 for the day. Bring it on!

[John Penrose MP (Minister for Tourism), Alice Harper, Gordon Pullin
Cllr Ann Harley (Chrm District Council), Alice, Susie, Mel Ragge]

Stealing everyone's thunder though yesterday was Tess (Iain's barking mad border collie, famous in Wells) who, bless her little white paws, goes to extraordinary lengths and bounding heights to obsessively chase & lick shadows. Photo will come at some point!
